RED are currently looking for a SAP Change & Release Manager for a global end user in the City of London, this is a great opportunity to work on a large SAP implementation project.

The SAP Change and Release Manager will own the SAP Change and Release Management lifecycle, which includes scheduling, coordinating and the management of releases across the enterprise for the SAP environment and non-SAP integrated application assurance. The releases can be inclusive of application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades including within the 2020 Program updates. Where necessary you will provide tools and services to help project teams manage and deploy releases into production from the different environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Define and execute SAP Solution Manager roadmap with respect to its use for managing changes through the landscape
  • Define and maintain processes and tools to govern, control and execute change across teams and projects, within the framework of Change & Release Management for SAP
  • Define release and deploy strategy and plans for SAP
  • Define gate keeping processes and maintain these, including compliance to the documentation guidelines, within established frameworks including the Project Delivery Model
  • Enforce third party's application management services (AMS) adherence to change and release management process
  • Ensure all change / new demand requests are submitted to the Change Approval Board, and provide input into the decision-making process, prioritization across regions, impact assessments, and schedule of future releases
  • Freeze release scope (enhancements from Change Approval Board and incidents from AMS)
  • Review / Sign Off on release management plans and documentation developed by AMS
  • Own GPMS Release Management checkpoint signoffs
  • Co-approve, along with the Community of Excellence (CoE) Lead and Head of GPMS IT, the release into the production environment
  • Work with the companies Support Partner, assess operational quality, identify gaps, and manage closure of gaps around Change and Release Management, including
  • Ensure effective Error Trend Analysis and Problem Management
  • Provide support for Major Incident Management and ensure timely resolution of Major Incidents
  • Ensure SAP functional best practices are adhered to during Incident and Problem investigation and resolution
  • Provide technical feasibility and appropriateness of proposed incident & problem resolutions when alternative solutions are available
  • Perform detailed planning & project management of implementation activities for updates & patching
  • Perform effective Weekly Operational Review with Support Partner Basis Team when required

Experience:

  • Extensive professional experience in IT, including technology-oriented systems analysis, project management, and release management in a complex SAP environment
  • Understanding of Change management controls and processes
  • Experience with Charm (SOLMAN) and other similar tools (e.g. Basis Technologies TE)
  • Excellent communication and mediation skills, including ability to align different stakeholders' views to reach mutually beneficial outcomes
  • Bachelor's Degree in IT related discipline
  • ITIL Foundation
